Jacquard is a woven fabric in which patterns are created directly during the weaving process using a Jacquard loom, rather than being printed or embroidered on the surface.
Linen jacquard is produced by weaving linen yarns on a Jacquard loom, allowing complex patterns to be integrated into the fabric structure while preserving the natural breathability and texture of linen.
The fabric is not soft by nature after weaving. Once the linen jacquard is woven, it undergoes a mechanical softening process, using repeated movement and controlled beating rather than chemical treatments. This process relaxes the fibers, resulting in a soft, flexible hand feel, comparable to lightweight, worn-in denim, while preserving the structure and breathability of linen.
The fabric is sourced and produced in Europe, then woven on a Jacquard loom, a time-intensive process even when performed by modern machinery. After weaving, the fabric undergoes custom dyeing and mechanical softening. Garments are then cut and sewn in small local ateliers by skilled women, using French seams rather than overlock construction, resulting in a higher level of durability and finish.
